In all its glory, summer gives us the opportunity to see things differently by spending time outdoors, and there is no better way to kick off the fun days of summer than by updating your outdoor living space. Transform your space into a favorite social gathering place or even your ideal staycation for the family with these outdoor summer trends.

Outdoor Trend: Bright Colors

Deep Seating Set

Summer is a time of playfulness and excitement. Adding bright colors provides a welcoming sensation to your outdoor space. Mixing and matching furniture along with textiles creates a collective look while using brightly colored plants as decor can bring everything together. If you don’t have colorful furniture, don’t worry! Easily add color to your furniture with new cushions and throw pillows. Don’t forget to mix patterns, too.

Outdoor Trend: Edible Plants as Decor

Farm-to-table is one of the biggest trends right now, so why not add it to a part of your home? Start small with lettuce or herbs like mint or parsley, and then continue to grow your garden with other fruits and vegetables. Use smaller containers to grow your veggies, herbs or fruit, and then hang them on pallets or wood to create a nice visual effect. Great design, decor and fresh food! Nothing can beat that.

While farm-to-table may be a trend, it is much more than that. It is a great way to show your kids how to eat healthy, plus it’s nutritious for the whole family.

Outdoor Trend: Outdoor Beds

If you are looking for a unique addition to your outdoor space or you want you space to feel as relaxing as a resort, then you will want to take a closer look at outdoor beds. From hanging day beds from ceilings to beds surrounded by sheer curtains, there are many possibilities with outdoor beds. Stealing a nap outside can feel like such a luxury and leave you feeling even more relaxed. To create that resort-like spot, you’ll want to make sure your bed is comfortable. Putting your bed in a shaded spot will not only create the most comfort, it will also be protective so you don’t drift off too long in the exposure of the sun. If you don’t have a covered porch, a patio umbrella can create that shade without a permanent structure. Adding deep cushions and a few throw pillows will ensure softness for a peaceful rest.
